Frequently asked questions
Common questions about submitting, moderation, voting, ranking, and the weekly cycle on Launching Directory.
- What is Launching Directory?
- Launching Directory is a weekly directory of startup and SaaS launches. Founders submit a website, the community upvotes, and approved launches appear in a daily list ranked by votes.
- How do I submit a startup?
- Paste your URL into the bar on the home page, then complete the six-step intake form: basics, media, links and social, founder, launch slot, and review. Submissions are queued for moderator review.
- How long does moderation take?
- Most submissions are reviewed within 24 to 48 hours. Approved listings go live on the launch date set by the founder. If the launch date has already passed, the listing appears as soon as moderation finishes.
- How are products ranked?
- Products are ranked by community upvotes from logged-in visitors. Each browser can upvote a product once. Vote totals decide ordering inside the daily list, the spotlight, and the weekly digest.
- Can I upvote my own product?
- Once per browser, like any visitor. Voting from multiple browsers, devices, or VPNs to inflate ranking violates the terms of service and can lead to a listing being removed.
- When does the weekly cycle close?
- Every Monday at 08:00 UTC. When the timer ends, votes freeze, the digest is sent to subscribers, and the next cycle begins.
- Is there a fee to submit?
- Standard listings are free. Featured slots and other paid placements may be offered separately and are clearly labelled when shown.
- Do outbound links use rel=nofollow?
- By default outbound links use rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer". Selected listings may be configured as do-follow at the moderator's discretion.
- How do I update or remove my listing?
- Reply to the email used on the submission. The team can edit content, swap the website URL, or remove the listing on request from the founder.
- Which AI crawlers are allowed?
- GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Perplexity-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-Web, anthropic-ai, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, and Bingbot are allowed. CCBot is disallowed. See /robots.txt for the live policy.
